The center of this sweet Italian nougat treat is made of almonds, honey, sugar and egg whites. It is then finely worked by hand into the traditional bite size torrone shape. The outer coating is applied by dipping the nougat in a vat of rich Italian dark chocolate, then letting it cool in place. Nougat was invented in the 1400s by bakers from Venice and its traditions have been passed along through generations, keeping the original taste. The carefully selected raw materials make Cestaro’s torrone uniquely delicious.
